The Annual Round Pigeon Island Regatta
Round Pigeon Island Regatta
The Round Pigeon Island Regatta is a recent addition to the Deer Isle Yacht Club’s schedule of events. Traditionally it has been held on the weekend of Independence Day. On the designated afternoon, weather and tide permitting, Club members meet at the navigational marker R2 for a circumnavigation of Pigeon Island. The Regatta has two class’. Class A, the Sailing Dinghy Class competes for the J. Dukehart Chesney Memorial Cup. Class B, the Rowing Dinghy class competes for the DIYC Paddle. An Awards Ceremony immediately follows the races. As a tribute to the 50th State to join the Union. Hawaiian clothing is encouraged!
